Dining, housing, student financing, childcare and support of cultural events — these are the five areas in which Paderborn Student Services are active. Our sphere of activity is the higher education landscape of Paderborn University and the Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Sciences.<\/p>\n

\n

Student Housing<\/h4>\n

Paderborn Student Services provides 1,519 places of residence in 7 housing complexes (in Paderborn 5, Hamm 1, Lippstadt 1), of which 151 are barrier-free and 21 equipped for people with disabilities. There are 28 residences reserved for families.<\/p>\n

Any student enrolled at Paderborn University or Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Sciences is entitled to live in one of these residences.<\/p>\n

The residence hall \u201cAlois-Fuchs-Weg<\/em>\u201d in Paderborn consists of one- room apartments. The residence hall \u201cUnionstra\u00dfe<\/em>\u201d in Lippstadt has only two-room apartments for students to share. All of the other residence halls have various housing forms ranging from units for up to 8 students with single rooms, each with their own shower\/bath but a common kitchen, to single apartments or to apartments shared by four students.<\/p>\n

All of the rooms and the kitchens are fully furnished. The units have Internet and TV access and there is free parking for bicycles. Free parking for cars is also available at all locations with the exception of Hamm. Laundry rooms with washing machines and laundry dryers for students\u2019 use are available in all residence halls.<\/p>\n

Students at the Hamm and Lippstadt universities can find rooms offered by private people by consulting the exchange listings on the Paderborn Student Services homepage. Private people can advertise rooms available to students without fee on this site.<\/p>\n

Student Services maintain an independent online portal www.wohnraum-f\u00fcr-studierende.de for Paderborn universities. Besides free listing of available rooms, students seeking housing or looking for other students with whom to share housing can also place notices on the site.<\/p>\n

Food and Drink<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our dining facilities are open not only to students and university employees, but to all guests. You can find whatever you are hungry for, ranging from small snacks to complete gourmet meals.<\/p>\n

Our dining facilities are:
\n\u201cMensa Academica\u201d, \u201cMensa Forum\u201d, \u201cMensula\u201d, \u201cCaf\u00e9te\u201d, \u201cGrill|Caf\u00e9\u201d, \u201cOne Way Snack\u201d, \u201cKaffeebar<\/em> Bona Vista\u201d, \u201cBistro Hotspot an der F\u00fcrstenallee\/Zukunftsmeile<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n

The dining facilities in Hamm and Lippstadt are
\n\u201cMensa Atrium\u201d and \u201cMensa Basilica\u201d.<\/p>\n

In addition, our event service can arrange catering to suit all types of needs.<\/p>\n

Student Financing <\/strong><\/p>\n

Paderborn Student Services is the office to contact about student financing in Paderborn and the universities in Hamm and Lippstadt. Other than processing applications for German government grants and loans, BAf\u00f6G, <\/em>Student Services can also arrange student loans through the Student Services NRW loan association (DaKa-NRW)<\/em>. Student Services are also a cooperating partner with a German government-owned development bank, another organization which awards loans to students (KfW-Studienkredit)<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Applying for BAf\u00f6G<\/em>: Student applications for BAf\u00f6G<\/em> can only be considered if submitted in writing. BAf\u00f6G <\/em>payments don\u2019t begin until, at the earliest, a month after application. So don\u2019t delay! To meet the deadline, you can first write a formless application. Application forms are available from the Student Services offices for student aid at the respective universities or obtainable from municipal or county administration offices. The forms can also be downloaded from www.bafoeg.bmbf.de<\/u><\/p>\n

Students with Children<\/strong><\/p>\n

The daycare centers \u201cMS-Kunigunde\u201d<\/em> and \u201cUni-Zwerge\u201d<\/em> are available to care for children whose parents are students or employees at Paderborn University or even for children of working parents in the area. The total of nine groups at both centers offer childcare for 150 children ranging in age from 4 months old to school age (usually age 6). At the facilities, which are near the university, the kitchen team and the trained professional staff ensure that the children receive a warm and child-friendly lunch.<\/p>\n

Internationality and Culture<\/strong><\/p>\n

Paderborn Student Services work together closely with the Paderborn University international office. Every semester a quota of 100 residences is reserved for exchange students. Residences made available by students leaving the University for exchange time elsewhere are also managed by Student Services. There is contact with the international office at the Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Sciences so that a quota can also be set in Hamm or Lippstadt if needed.<\/p>\n

Ideas and arrangements to promote cultural exchange and to make living and studying easier for foreign students are developed in conjunction with the elected foreign student representative (Ausl\u00e4ndische Studierenden Vertretung, ASV<\/em>).<\/p>\n

Paderborn Student Services allow students to use the Grill|Caf\u00e9 for cultural events. Equipped with a small stage, lighting, music system and data projector, evening events such as concerts, theater productions or parties can take place here.<\/p>\n
